Dr. Annette Cannon
Dr. Cannon will lead a discussion with Dr. Audrey Boxwell on "Restoring Your Mental Health After the Pandemic”
Dr. Cannon is an RN with over 35 years of experience and currently serves as the Jefferson County Colorado Coroner. She was elected in 2018 for a 4-year term. Her education includes a PhD in Healthcare Administration, MSN in Nursing Leadership, and an MA in Management. She has many years of experience as a Psychiatric nurse and counselor, Forensic nurse, and many other areas and types of nursing, along with years as a Nurse Educator and Leader.
She published her first book in 2005, which was about a Mental Health Crisis due to a lack of resources for the mentally ill juvenile in the criminal justice system. In 2015, a second book, 'Mental Health Crisis', was published and she is currently working on her next publication called 'Mental Health Crisis: Covid19 Pandemic'.
She is certified as a Medicolegal Death Investigator and serves as a Board Member on several boards, such as the Governor appointed Colorado Coroners Standards and Training Board, the Federal Corrections Institution community Board, the Colorado Child Fatality Review Board, the Jefferson County Nurses board, the Outreach Chair for Sigma Theta Tau - Alpha Kappa Chapter, and others.
She serves on many committees, including Suicide Prevention, Substance Use Prevention, and has a Partnership with the Veterans Administration Eastern Colorado Health Care System Suicide Prevention Program. Dr. Cannon also owns a non-profit business, 'Care for the Caregiver', established in 2005 and owns 'Cannon Health Care Education and Consulting', which provides training for nationally and internationally educated nurses on Nurse Refresher courses, general nursing courses, and NCLEX studies. Being a Reiki Master/Teacher, she volunteers her time to do Reiki and ministry for women, through the Women's Homeless Initiative
