Colorado Women's Day Award Finalist Bios
Read about just some of the wonderful women who were nominated and became finalists in the 7th Annual Colorado Women's Day awards.
Molly Schmitt is one of the finalists for a Colorado Women’s Day award in the “Young Women in STEM under
18 category.” She attends both Conifer High School and Warren Tech. She participated in HUNCH - High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware and created a 1-to-33 prototype of the US
Lab Destiny on the International Space Station that will travel to airports and schools across the country. Molly’s design is specifically suited to engage students in science and engineering. Her
design incorporates a sensory experience where participants hear the sounds, lights and technology of the ISS.
Outside of her venture with NASA, she was an enthusiastic participant in ROCK Week, during which she learned about estimating, forming, and pouring with Baker
Concrete, and was offered d job at the end of the week due to her attention to detail and hard work.
She has completed courses in AP Macro Economics, AP Calculus, Honors Geometry, Honors Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry, and Biology, and both Honors and AP
Chemistry.
Molly is the President of Warren Tech’s National Technical Honor Society and has designed and built a variety of useful storage venues for her high school and
for the Mountain Resource Center in Conifer.
