Vice President, Navigation Systems Operations

Brynn Watson is Vice President of Navigation Systems Operations and deputy for the Global Positioning System (GPS) III program for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (SSC).  GPS III is the U.S. Air Force’s next-generation program improving position, navigation, and timing services to all users.  In this role, she manages day-to-day operations, ensuring GPS III achieves 100% Mission Success.

Previously, Ms. Watson served as Vice President of Space & Missile Systems for SSC leading over 5,300 engineers supporting strategic missile defense missions and space programs.  In that role she was responsible for all aspects of engineering including people, processes, tools, technologies and services across the product design, development, delivery and sustainment lifecycle.  Prior to that assignment, she served as Director of Software Engineering responsible for the execution and strategic direction over 1,200 software engineers.  In that role she led SSC’s Digital Tapestry strategic initiative, responsible for maximizing digital integration and end-to-end system modeling across SSC.

Prior to joining SSC, Ms. Watson was Director of Engineering Collaboration and Operations for Lockheed Martin Corporate Engineering and Technology (CE&T), and deputy to the Vice President of Engineering CE&T.  In that role she was responsible for setting strategic direction for the Lockheed Martin Engineering Enterprise and its 71,000 engineers and scientists. This included leading enterprise-wide advancement of complex systems development engineering practices. She also served as deputy program manager for CE&T’s Systems and Software Initiative where she was charged with executing strategies to leverage the entire corporation’s systems and software engineering resources to advance complex systems development through collaboration, professional development, and model based development.

Before joining Lockheed Martin, Ms. Watson began her 27 year aerospace career as an engineer at Aerojet Electronic Systems in Azusa, California where she held positions in a variety of systems and software engineering areas including design, analysis, development, integration and test.

Ms. Watson graduated from the University of California at Riverside with a Master’s of Science in Applied Mathematics in 1991.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Augsburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1989.  She is a member of Women in Aerospace, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and she is an active member of the Lockheed Martin Women’s Impact Network.  Ms. Watson has been recognized for her leadership by winning the 2008 SSC Ed Taft Diversity Leadership Award, the 2012 Tribute to Women Honor by the YWCA of Silicon Valley and a 2013 Lockheed Martin SSC NOVA Full Spectrum Leadership Award.  Ms. Watson, her husband, and their daughter reside in Englewood, Colorado.
